Hi Julian,

We are really sorry our video made you think that sensor come with logging device. What you see in the video is basically Arduino Uno and 16x2 I2C LCD. Let me know what you need it for and how you feel in electronics.

You may also see the project which I made:

Let me know how confident with DIY are you?

Can you give me the link to buy Arduino Uno and 16x2 I2C LCD? i'd like to use this sensor on construction project because i need to know the moisture content of agreggate before compaction.

Hi,

I hope you are aware that this sensor is hobby level sensor. It will give slightly different readings depending on compaction of soil. This is because water close to sensor influence reading a lot more than water just 1mm away from the sensor. It also needs calibration to some known value to give you absolute reading values.

Not sure if you are aware that sensor output is voltage and you can read it with any multimeter. You can power sensor from 3 AA batteries or any source within specification.

16x2 I2C LCD https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Blue-IIC-I2C-TWI-1602-16x2-Serial-LCD-Module-Display-for-Arduino-PL/322432250852?epid=594013545&hash=item4b1275b3e4:g:VY8AAOSw2GlXINYW

If you are not confident in electronics I personally would stick with batery and multimeter.
